This isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of what we believe in.

If you’re struggling with gambling, compulsive behaviors, or the lasting effects of trauma, you’re not alone—and help is available. Healing doesn’t require perfection or having all the answers. It starts with feeling understood and supported.

Hi, I’m Sandra

Support for Gambling and other Behavioral Addictions.

I am a nationally board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am the creator of Neurobehavioral Awareness Training™ (NBAT) and the co-creator of The Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery (LGIR) Model™.

I provide psychiatric care for individuals experiencing gambling addiction, behavioral addictions, trauma, and co-occurring mental health conditions (licensed in AZ, WA, & NJ). I hold master’s degrees in Behavioral Science and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and am a doctoral candidate in Forensic Psychology, specializing in Victimology, which shapes my trauma-informed, evidence-based approach to care.

I have experience with behavioral and process addictions, including gambling addiction, and integrate psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, and neuropsychotherapy to support long-term recovery.

I am licensed in Arizona, New Jersey, and Washington, and I provide psychiatric care through in-person and online telehealth platforms. My work is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in a deep understanding of how trauma, neurobiology, and behavior intersect in complex mental health and addiction concerns.

I offer professional online brain & recovery coaching through Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery & Addiction.

** Psychiatric services are available and provided independently through Sandra DeGroat LLC.

My Approach

Neurobehavioral Awareness Training™ (NBAT)

A Thoughtful, Brain-Based Approach

My Neurobehavioral Awareness Training™ (NBAT) integrates psychiatry, neuropsychotherapy, & brain coaching, an approach that helps make sense of how the brain responds to stress, trauma, and addictive patterns—and how those patterns can change over time. With advanced graduate training in Forensic Psychology and doctoral-level (ABD) work in Victimology, I bring a deep understanding of how life experiences, neurobiology, and behavior are interconnected.

This means our work together isn’t about blame or willpower—it’s about understanding what’s happening beneath the surface and building new, healthier ways forward.

How I Can Help

Neurobehavioral Awareness Training™ (NBAT) and the Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery (LGIR) Model™ are designed to help adults seeking support with trauma recovery, gambling or behavioral addictions, stress management, mood stability, motivation, and personal growth.
