Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery Model™

Why Our Approach Is Different

Many addiction programs focus only on stopping the addictive behavior. While this can be an important first step, lasting recovery requires more than simply eliminating a behavior. True recovery involves understanding how thoughts, emotions, and habits interact—and learning how to change those patterns over time.

At Lilac Grove, we use an integrated approach that combines Neurobehavioral Awareness Training (NBAT) with the Three-Prong Addiction Recovery System (3PARS) to guide clients through a structured and supportive recovery process.

The Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery (LGIR) Model™ three-pillar approach

  • Pillar 1 Awareness and interruption (NBAT)

  • Pillar 2 Recovery process and structure (3-PARS)

  • Pillar 3 Behavioral integration and long-term change

Neurobehavioral Awareness Training™ (NBAT)

Recovery begins with awareness. Through Neurobehavioral Awareness Training, clients learn how automatic thoughts, emotional reactions, and unconscious patterns influence their behavior.

Many addictive behaviors develop as automatic coping responses to stress, emotional discomfort, or learned habits. NBAT helps individuals recognize these patterns as they occur, allowing them to pause, reflect, and make healthier choices. This increased awareness becomes the foundation for meaningful behavioral change.

The Three-Prong Addiction Recovery System™ (3PARS)

Once individuals begin recognizing their patterns, the Three-Prong Addiction Recovery System provides a structured path for recovery.

Behavior Replacement
Clients identify healthy or enjoyable activities to replace addictive behaviors, helping to interrupt harmful habits and create new routines.

Rebuilding Integrity and Relationships
Recovery also involves addressing behaviors that often accompany addiction, such as lying, hiding behaviors, or people-pleasing. This stage focuses on developing honesty, accountability, and healthier relationship dynamics.

Understanding the Root Causes of Addiction
Long-term recovery includes exploring the deeper emotional, psychological, and life experiences that may have contributed to the development of addiction. This insight helps individuals build lasting strategies for maintaining recovery.

Unifying the LGIR Model™

Our final pillar is helping clients integrate NBAT and 3-PARS to achieve lasting recovery and healthy relationships through awareness and behavior change.
